TMJ Laser Treatment
TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint and is used to describe dysfunction or disorders related to the joint where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be caused by a trauma, misalignment of the teeth, or excess muscle tension. The two bones that meet at the jaw are buffered by cartilage and five different muscles, so TMJ can cause a variety of troubles.
There are a number of treatments for TMJ disorder, but when simpler solutions don't produce strong results, laser treatment can be done. Laser treatment involves shooting light energy deep down into the inflamed tissues that surround the temporomandibular joint. As this energy penetrates the tissues it is able to stimulate healing. With laser treatment, relief comes almost immediately.
